Jaring Launch Broadband Service

As report in the Star today, Jaring launched nationwide broadband service for dial up subsciber. Jaring has announced that it is now providing nationwide broadband Internet service. Jaring said its dial-up subscribers can now switch over to a high-speed Internet broadband service and its MY015 Internet telephony system. The broadband service gives consumers 1Mbps of speed (versus 56Kbps via dial-up), as well as cheaper voice calls via an Internet-based phone using the 015 prefix assigned to Jaring. This is definitely good news to many users who has not been able to obtain Streamyx Broadband service for the last two years. I must say that the price offered by Jaring look extremely attractive, especially the Enterprise Package at RM 139.00 per month and come with a fixed IP. Another advantage if of course the opportunity to use the 015 voice access that offer unlimited call at certain fixed rate. The concern is of course the uptime and stability which is yet to be tested. TM Net streamyx has gone through that phase and is now extremely stable in my area.   WIRED WIRELESS Basic 1Mbps Standard 1Mbps Enterprise 1Mbps Standard 1Mbps Enterprise 1Mbps Monthly Subscription Fee RM79 RM99 RM139 RM99 RM139 MY015 Line 1* 1+2* 1+5* 1+2* 1+5* Modem FREE RM499 or RM25 x 24 months Installation Charge RM80(if required) Registration Fee RM75 (waived for existing JARING subscribers) Benefits FREE MY015 Community Call Plan   FREE MY015 calls worth RM10 per line 1 E-mail & Dial-Up accounts 1 + 5 E-mail & Dial-Up accounts 1 + 20 E-mail & Dial-Up accounts 1 + 5 E-mail & Dial-Up accounts 1 + 20 E-mail & Dial-Up accounts 1 Dynamic IP 1 Dynamic IP 1 Dynamic/Static IP 1 Dynamic IP 1 Dynamic/Static IP

Yahoo, Microsoft link IM services

Consumers using the Yahoo Messenger or MSN Messenger programs will be able to exchange instant messages, see the presence of their contacts, share emoticons and add friends from either service, the companies said. Interoperability is expected to kick in during the second quarter of 2006 Read More Such is the latest cooperation between two giant Microsoft and Yahoo. Such action is quite apparent an effort against strong competition from Google that recently enter the IM market. In recent months, Microsoft and Yahoo must have lost a fair bit of their mail users to Google’s Gmail. Such alliances will no doubt improve the value of Microsoft MSN and Yahoo IM services.

Gmail is also extremely fast and refresh by itself to show latest messages that reach your mail box. Spam and Antivirus filter is excellent and with 2.7GB of free space, there is no need to delete any mail. The Gmail in fact does not have any function that allow you to delete your mail. The search function on Gmail is fast and accurate. The label concept is again innovative as it allow the same message to show under different label. iPod Nano and some interesting quote

Apple Nano was introduced into the market last week and now retail in local store at RM 1216.00 for the 4GB version. The iPod Nono set to replace iPod Mini which is set to be discontinued. Some of the nice quote that read today are:- Nobody can sustain an 80 percent market share in a consumer electronics business for more than two or three years,” Munster told CNN. “It’s pretty much impossible Well, he’s right about one thing: Apple’s market share won’t stay at 80 percent. It’s about to go up. In this case, however, they’ll have a tough time. Want to know what happens when you pit other players against the Nano, mano a mano? You give up, because no other flash player on the market offers anything close to the Nano’s concept or capacity. Apple has mastered a lesson that its rivals seem unable to absorb: that the three most important features in a personal music player are style, style and style. The truth is, the iPod has faced stiff competition from some of the industry’s best-known companies since the day it was introduced. Yet even after four years, all of Dell’s horses and all Sony’s men haven’t made a dent in the iPod’s dominance. And with the introduction of gorgeous, functional and elegant iPod Nano, that’s not about to change. Read more on iPod at News.com It is still amazing to me how Steve Job can continue to introduce something so attractive to keep all competitor at bay after so many years.
