Sign up process was pretty easy with the following steps :-

1. Choose a domain name own by you
2. Change the MX record of the domain to point to hotmail server. You need to
   host your own DNS
3. Verify MX Record
4. Once that is done, you can begin to add users to the domain
5. Users can log into hotmail.com to start using email
6. Only 2MB of email space is given upon sign up. 250MB may or may not come
   later 🙂
7. The process took about 15 minutes to complete.

Hence it will be AD supported via hotmail.com. 2MB space is definitely grossly insufficient that render the box created useless unless 250MB space is given.

As report in the Star today, Jaring launched nationwide broadband service for dial up subsciber.

Jaring has announced that it is now providing nationwide broadband Internet service.

Jaring said its dial-up subscribers can now switch over to a high-speed Internet broadband service and its MY015 Internet telephony system.

The broadband service gives consumers 1Mbps of speed (versus 56Kbps via dial-up), as well as cheaper voice calls via an Internet-based phone using the 015 prefix assigned to Jaring.

This is definitely good news to many users who has not been able to obtain Streamyx Broadband service for the last two years. I must say that the price offered by Jaring look extremely attractive, especially the Enterprise Package at RM 139.00 per month and come with a fixed IP.

Another advantage if of course the opportunity to use the 015 voice access that offer unlimited call at certain fixed rate.

The concern is of course the uptime and stability which is yet to be tested. TM Net streamyx has gone through that phase and is now extremely stable in my area.

The Blog results appear on the right section of the News Result page, taking the place of the sponsored ADs. Tried on the search and found that the blog result that it return is so much less compared to the dedicated blog search currently offered by Google.

Such is the latest cooperation between two giant Microsoft and Yahoo. Such action is quite apparent an effort against strong competition from Google that recently enter the IM market. In recent months, Microsoft and Yahoo must have lost a fair bit of their mail users to Google’s Gmail. Such alliances will no doubt improve the value of Microsoft MSN and Yahoo IM services.

Downloaded and install Jyve via JYVE several weeks ago. Jyve works well the and feature that attracted me the most is the forwarding service that it offer.

With JYVE, I get to forward calls that were made to my Skype ID use in office to my personal Skype ID that I use for my home laptop. It does save me the trouble of having to login and logout.

Gmail by Google is no doubt the best free Web Mail services that you can find in the Internet today. The best feature of Gmail that I like most that Gmail organize mail of same subject in one single thread for easy reading and tracking. Gmail is also extremely fast and refresh by itself to show latest messages that reach your mail box. Spam and Antivirus filter is excellent and with 2.7GB of free space, there is no need to delete any mail. The Gmail in fact does not have any function that allow you to delete your mail. The search function on Gmail is fast and accurate. The label concept is again innovative as it allow the same message to show under different label.

In comparison, Yahoo mail is still offering only 2GB space on paid account. My account which is near to the 2GB limit is just hopeless when performing search. It offer return with error message when your mail box size is big. Yahoo is however working on a new web mail system that will work much faster and we shall wait and see how soon that will be introduced in the paid and free account.

Online AD has been growing substantially in recent quarters. Yahoo revenue from online ad alone for 2nd quarter is USD 1.25 billion, up from about slightly over USD 1 billion from first quarter. Similarly, Google 2nd quarter revenue from online AD amount to USD 1.36 billion. All these grow come in the expense of traditional printed AD. With Internet becoming part of everyone life, this sector set to grow further and online ad is expected to double every year to USD 19 billion a year in five years.

Users and individual no longer have to wait for weekly journal or printed newspaper to arrive, they begin to rely more on online resources that is normally updated at very close interval. The new advertising solutions offer by Yahoo and Google to web site publishers will no doubt speed up the growth of the online AD.

The auctioneer said it plans to pay $1.3 billion in cash and $1.3 billion in stock for the Web communications company. It would make a further payout of up to $1.5 billion by 2008 or 2009 if financial targets are met, giving the deal a total value of up to $4.1 billion, executives of the two companies said.
