Google Base gone live.

Google Base

What is Google Base?

Google Base is a place where you can easily submit all types
of online and offline content that we’ll host and make searchable online. You
can describe any item you post with attributes, which will help people
find it when they search Google Base. In fact, based on the relevance of your
items, they may also be included in the main Google search index and other
Google products like Froogle, Google Base and Google Local.

Quick Facts about Google Base

  • Cost: Free
  • Item types accepted: All types of online and offline information
    and images
  • Languages: You can submit your information in many languages; the
Google Base interface, however, including the Help Content, is currently
available only in English, English UK and German.
  • Reach: Items you submit to Google Base can be found on Google Base
and, depending on their relevance, may also appear on Google properties like
    Google, Froogle and Google Local.
  • How it’s different: Google Base enables you to add attributes
that better describe your content so that users can easily find it. The more
popular specific attributes become, the more often we’ll suggest them when
others post the same items. Similarly, items that become more popular will
show up as suggested item types in the Choose an existing item type
    drop down menu.

Google launched Google Analytics, a free analysis service for Webmasters and web marketers. Base on Urchin which Google acquired and make the service free.

Website owners will be able to see exactly where visitors come from, which links on the site are getting the most traffic, which pages visitors are viewing, how long people stay on the site, which products on merchant sites are being sold and where people give up in multi-step checkout processes.

The launched of Google Analytics will surely hurt many paid web traffic analysis services and free service alike. With each passing day, we continue to see more and more web services being offered for free and I believe many other services such as web hosting will be offered for free in a big way in the future.

With Google, Life is so much easier

Google has been launching new services now and then and I must say that tools and new features offer by Google are really useful.

  • Google Desktop Search make the search function of Windows obsolete. With
Google Desktop Search, searching documents, mail, web history, files are so
fast. I have also set the Desktop Search to crawl all my network drives and
getting what I want is now matter of seconds and not minutes. I no longer
need to use the Microsoft Outlook search to locate my mail. Thumb up to
Google for saving tons of my time.
  • Picasa2 is another great free software by Google.  I find that the
export function of Picasa2 is particular useful. With that I am able to
resize some 500 pictures in just of 40 minutes. That is simply not quite
possible with other graphic editing software such as Photoshop.
  • Gmail is no doubt one of the best Google’s offer so far and it is just
getting much better, bigger space. Now with auto-save and customized from
features. Even Yahoo’ Mail Plus at USD 19.99 a year is  no match to
    Google’s Gmail.

Google Blog Search

Google Blog Search (beta) is definitely a better way to perform a search on blogs. The search results include blogs that publish a site feed in any format and automatically pings an updating service.

Google Blog Search is available via http://blogsearch.google.com and currentlydisplay search results that are older than June 2005. Google is making effort to include older posts in the search. So stay tuned.

Such a move will sure prevent many execs and programmers from Microsoft and Yahoo from sleeping well. As usual, they will possibly follow with similar blog search.

Google Talk

Installed Google shortly it was announced on news.com. Immediately tested with some of the IT savvy friends and found that Google Talk voice quality is as good as Skype. One major different between Google Talk and Skype is the Skype has the Skype out feature that allow you to call any fixed line or mobile number at extremely economical rate.

Google Talk can be downloaded at http://www.google.com/talk/

As I used Gmail a lot these days, I found that using Google Talk and Gmail together extremely handy.
